New exhibition: Very excited to share my new art work ‘Water Dancer’ which was revealed to the public on Friday Sep 18 at the opening of Lichtsicht 5 Projection Biennale curated by internationally acclaimed Peter Weibel, Director of the prestigious ZKM | Center for Art and Media. It's an honor to show my art work alongside such an impressive high-calibre international spectrum of artist : William Kentridge, Robert Wilson, Rosalie, Ryoji Ikeda, Tim Otto Roth, Daniel Crooks, Holger Forterer, Random International and Lasact. I had created this work in collaboration with the one and only Sharon Eyal who dances to the music of super talented Ariel Levinsohn. (I love you both very very much - thank you). “In his work Water Dancer, Eyal Gever projects a 3D simulation of a dancer onto an intermittent fountain, creating a haze of water droplets. The dancer’s body seems as though it is made of water, and keeps dispersing. The corporeal form of the dancer undergoes continuous flux between emergence and disintegration. The more dynamic the dancer’s movements, the more rapidly her body disintegrates; the calmer the movement, the clearer the shape becomes. A performance by Israeli dancer Sharon Eyal dancing to the song Overgrown by Ariel Levinsohn’s ‘Another MP’ serves as the foundation for the projected art work. Based on this, using state-of-the-art 3D simulation technology, Gever has created the virtual moving image of a figure that is constantly in the process of becoming”.
